In this painting I have played with the golden light of the rising sun. The gradients of yellow stand in stark contrast to the black and white bark of the birch tree. The rising sun and the promise of new day, of new beginnings.
In Celtic mythology, birch is also a tree of beginnings and symbolises renewal and purification.
